Continued Freight Railroad Labor Negotiation Impasse May Affect Amtrak San Joaquins Operations

Stockton, CA – the San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA), its personnel, and its host railroads, Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), are preparing for a potential freight railroad shutdown as soon as this Friday, September 16. In the event of an imminentfreight railroad shutdown, the San Joaquins would be required to preemptively begin suspending service on Thursday, September 15th.
