Amtrak San Joaquins Changes Schedule to Better Accomodate Passengers

(STOCKTON, CA) – On December 17, 2018, Amtrak® San JoaquinsSM will be adjusting its schedule to better accommodate weekend leisure travelers on San Joaquins trains 718 and 1701. San Joaquins train 718 will now operate full corridor to Bakersfield on Fridays, Saturdays, and Holidays. Additionally, San Joaquins train 1701 will operate on a later, full corridor schedule from Bakersfield providing an afternoon arrival into Sacramento. Both changes allow for a shorter Thruway Bus connection to/from Los Angeles. In conjunction with these changes, San Joaquins train 701 will depart later from Fresno at 4:45am.

“Changes in the schedule will improve weekend availability for leisure travelers in Oakland, Sacramento, the San Joaquin Valley and as far south as Los Angeles by providing full corridor service that is better timed for the passenger. Additionally, the change to 701 allows early travelers headed to the Sacramento area relief in both boarding and travel time,” said David Lipari, marketing manager for the San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority. “We want to make this change to offer improved timing to passengers ahead of the holidays.”

San Joaquins will be adding cars to existing trains to increase capacity for the holidays. Riders are encouraged to purchase their ticket in advance as seats may sell out on certain trains and Thruway Busses. Ticket reservations are required from Monday, Dec. 17 through Thursday, Dec. 27.
